Designers Christopher De Vos and Peter Pilotto.
British label Peter Pilotto is this year’s winner of the British Fashion Council/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund.
The brand designers Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos will receive a grant of £ 200 000 as well as mentoring over the next year.
Alexandra Shulman, chair of the fund and editor of British Vogue declared the duo deserved to win because “they have remained true to their vision of a print and color focused brand, but have managed to expand and grow the business to a level where they can now compete on an international stage.”
For his part, Peter Pilotto told British Vogue he’s “so relieved it’s over”. He explained: “It’s been so stressful just waiting for this night, I’ve had back pain! I actually had to see an osteopath because of the stress of it all! We’re just so relieved and so pleased.”
The two designers met when they were still students at Antwerp’s Royal Academy of Fine Arts in 2000. They launched their label in 2007.
They have other big things coming. Their capsule collection for Target is about to hit stores on February 9. It has received great reviews and is already promising to be a big success.
The other nominees for the grant were Emilia Wickstead, Mary Katrantzou, House of Holland, Osman, and Zoe Jordan.
